How else can you scare suburbanites, other than higher property taxes, to vote Republican?

Social safety nets in their own area. They lose their collective minds and shout NIMBY.

Idk if this counts as projection. Crime was up (although, if you compare violent crime rates during their pandemic peak to the 1980s, it’s laughable… although “rates” only tell half the story, since we do have a large population) but not its falling. People don’t seem to realize that it’s falling because politicians, particularly Republicans, love to embrace crime as a talking point.

trump facing 91 felonies, the entirety of the GOP breaking laws and having zero repercussions for it. The party of “law and order” is the party of lawless and blame others for it. That’s where I was getting at with the projection. They’re breaking laws left and right, and pointing out crime is out of control.

And every election year- “My opponent is soft on crime!”

No matter how low the crime rate is, you have to be “hard” on crime.

I guess the fascist cop (but I repeat myself) Eric Adams is starting his reelection campaign early…

Whenever “crime” comes up, the answer is usually “get tougher” more police etc. No one ever questions the approach or performance of the police.

Sometimes it feels like selective enforcement. I mean, heaven forbid we question the police and their ability to properly do their job vs just earning OT…

But why is it you see a huge police presence whenever someone protests something, yet this “lawlessness” pervades?
