This one is a native /kbin magazine, the other one you linked is a Lemmy instance community. While the two sites work together through the Activity Pub protocol, there are some significant differences for the end user and that part of the beauty of the Fediverse, that there is choice. And the best part is that you can subscribe to both on either front end and see everything posted in the environment you enjoy most.

Multiple small self-governing ones is basically the premise of federation.
I was aware of the one on Lemmy when I created this one. I still created it for the reasons HawkXero said. The longer I’m on kbin and lemmy the more I think it would be nice if communities could themselves federate.
