It’s no secret that 2024 has been a bit of a wild time to be an Xbox fan. We started out the year with rumours and speculation leading to a special business update podcast, while the last few months have brought numerous PS5 ports and studio closures over at Microsoft. However, this month’s showcase was an absolute banger, and it definitely feels like we’ve been back on track a little bit since the event.
So, we wanted to check in with the Pure Xbox faithful on how you’re all feeling about Xbox right now. If you were concerned leading up to the Xbox Games Showcase, have your fears now been squashed? Or do you still have questions about Microsoft Gaming and its future in leading the Xbox brand?
I love the console because of two things
- Gamepass
- Backwards compatibility
How am I feeling? I owned two Xboxes, 3 360s, and two Ones. In the 360 days I was addicted to achievement hunting. Then they made the interface suck with the One and broke that addiction. But it still had some cool games.
Now I have a Series X that I never turn on. So I guess that’s how I’m feeling.
Xbox as a console is pretty much a dead platform, Xbox as a brand is still kicking and successful. That’s kind of how I feel, if you want a console then you’re better off buying a PlayStation but if you have hardware already and just want games then Xbox has a good platform with gamepass.
GamePass is killing the Xbox specifically and is trying to kill gaming in general.
How so?
tl;dr - See HiFi Rush. One of the better games of last year, studio got shut down for under performing.
