Honestly, you are right. I think people saw “Biden” and “return2ozma” and just assumed it was bullshit out of the gate. But it’s informative, it is fair. They even make sure to say every now and then a few times that of course let’s not forget while we’re talking about this mostly unrelated topic that Trump is the end of the world.

Yeah, it’s by Brian Stelter previously of CNN.

The biggest problem with “Biden is old” as a headline is that Trump already milked “sleepy Biden” as much as he could in the runup to the 2016 elections.

While Trump is famous for repeating his own faults so often that people become desensitized to it, in this case he did the same thing to Biden. People have spent the last 8 years assuming Biden was really old, out of touch and likely losing his faculties. They voted for him anyway because “how bad could it be compared to the alternative?”

Meanwhile, Biden aged further until it has possibly actually become an issue, but Trump called wolf too many times, so it lost any power in the media.

Just wait until the right discovers Trump actually IS the used car salesman he appears to be too.

These two men should not be allowed to run for office again; there are better qualified candidates for both parties.

The biggest problem with “Biden is old” is that it’s being given the same/more weight than “Trump will end American democracy forever”, and treated as, somehow, more dangerous.

the right will turn on Trump, but not until he’s guaranteed useless, then you won’t be able to find anyone who voted for the guy.

so it lost any power in the media.

You better tell that to like 10% of the Democratic Party including e.g. Nancy Pelosi

Biden is way too old and it’s definitely a problem, but somehow they’ve absorbed not only the fact that it’s a problem but the inaccurate assessment of how much the electorate cares (for the most part, they still remember that Biden could walk out on stage thinking it’s 1945 and talking about onions on the belt and still be better than Trump). And also the “let’s have him withdraw and let’s not bother to put together a coherent plan for what happens afterwards” strategy for what should happen afterwards.

You can sum most of this up as a combination of ignorance, incompetence, and a desire not to upset the public all being the reasons why the professional journalists and the media didn’t pursue this story sooner.

—Frankly, I don’t think there’s a real difference when it comes to applying Hanlon’s Corollary/Law to politics. The outcome ends up being the same.
