“Space is an unsustainable environemnt” - what a weird headline for something that basically says “we need to do better about taking care of trash in orbit of Earth”.

I mean, based on the headline, you’d think they’re making a wildly bold claim.

The headline could be rephrased as “earth dwellers find a new place to eat, quickly begin shitting there too”

Indeed, this is mostly about LEO area denial by recursive fragmentation of space junk. The broader question is how long we will retain significant launch capacity to maintain at least borderline geosensing and telecommunications infrastructure in space when net energy begins to fall steeply. Perhaps we shouldn’t take availability of things like Starlink for granted.

We won’t ever take care of the space trash because under capitalism there is no incentive to waste resources making things better for everyone.

          Ok that’s forgiveable.

As something of a layman of the bell and motley, what was the shape you are aiming for? Underlining the emptiness and harshness of space?

Good theme then, all you missed was delivery. Don’t give up, there will be a chance to use your improved version before too long I am sure.

Any comedian will tell you that comedy only LOOKS effortless, it takes a lot of work though you have the instinct for it. Most people don’t, but like to think they do.

If I can make a suggestion, your earlier delivery was a little flat, and while that kind of emotionless sarcasm absolutely ruled in the 90s and 00s, but our modern audience has dealt with too much crap this last decade to warm up to ‘GenX grade sarcasm’ so you want to hit more of the ‘shared struggle’ or ‘those guys amirite?’ depending on your audience as they are complete opposites on the emotional spectrum.

Something “You’d think with literally millions of miles of nothingness that it would take more than a few decades to fill it up”

Or “I don’t see any ‘no dumping’ signs posted”

Or something topical like mockery zeitgeist upsurge for cybertruck with the tenuous link to the fact that Elon sent a Tesla into space. I’m not sure how it would turn out as it’s late and I’m out of ideas.

And don’t let it bug you, every Comedian flops occasionally. I’ve seen early Robin Williams standup before he hit his stride and if you had only ever seen that footage, you’d think it nuts he ever got so big.

Makes sense, since I’m Gen X.

                Thanks for the advice.

                  I’m Gen X.

Same here yo! Streetlamp life 4 eva!

Lemmy seems to skew more towards the GenX demographic than the other site that shall not be named does, at least in modern days. Glad to see it.
