First crypto, now AI. I just want reasonably priced pc parts.
Unless we get much more competition in the tech space (fabs, semiconductor design, OEMs), we are not going to get better pricing.
More competition would likely require quite radical changes in laws around copyright, patents and regulation of oligopolies.
Get ready for a massive increase in RAM prices in the next 24 months, unless the “AI” bubble does indeed pop in the next 12 months due to a lack of monetizable use cases. We live in interesting times, perhaps too interesting.
