Users are already planning protest art. I personally wouldn’t encourage people to join because it’s more traffic for Reddit, but that’s just me.

On other news, apparently requesting a subreddit now requires a 28d old account with 100+ karma.

EDIT: it's on again, since 20min ago:

The only two recognisable things are the “fuck spez” and nationalists spamming some government flag.

EDIT 2: better view:

I think that the meaning of the sentence in German up there should be rather obvious. It’s on-topic.

Is that the pixel art thing?

…how much of it will just be “fuck u/spez”?

      Yup.

No idea - the ones who were pissed the most left. But hopefully quite a bit.

I think some enterprising souls may come back just to coordinate on making /r/place an advertisement for how shitty Reddit is being, as well as increasing awareness of alternatives like lemmy. And I think that’s great.

I suggest, make an art about Spez getting gangbanged by investors and the admins and power tripping mods getting cucked

Since they’re banking on streamers once again competing with eachother, they’re expecting almost none.

Although depending on if/who gets involved there might be a lot.

I find it stunning that they’ve decided to go ahead with this. Why the need for a 2023 r/Place when there was 5 years between the first and second? What the hell?

Likely an attempt to show that the platform is still able to generate traffic and engagement, plus a really awful attempt of bread and circus. It’s specially bad as people will use it against Reddit Inc. and the platform itself.

Because they are seeing the threat that places like Lemmy are providing to users. They need to draw people back to Reddit and distract from the protests that are still a topic.

Probably looking to increase engagement so the market is more favorable during valuation.

There is a discord group called The Swarm that plans on doing that with 1,000 people. They also allied themselves with another group to put a protest message in the middle of it.

I’m torn about r/place revival. I’m excited to see how people embarrass reddit management, but it feels like management is allowing it cause they know it will drive up daily active users they can brag about before the stock goes public.

Probably the best protest, because it’s something moderators CAN’T fix

    Quick we need something fun!

There’s a meme about angry boss throwing guy out window here.

Boss: We need ways to smooth over relations.

    1: Write a non-apology apology.

    2: Host r/place.

3: Don’t be a dick in the first place.

    [Thrown]

    Feel free to make it.

Lol I like it (though I’d include mods with users) feel free to post it.

Something like that, I’d say “don’t be a dick to the users and mods in the first place”. If you can Photoshop, put spez’s face on the boss.

Looks good, make a separate post for it! Final correction it’s not “on first place”, it’s “in the first place”

What’s the over/under on how many “fuck /u/spez” there will be in the final piece?

My guess is that at least 10% of the canvas area will be “fuck u/spez”.
