Iran says it will "punish" Israel for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

The US will deploy additional warships and fighter jets to the Middle East to help defend Israel from possible attacks by Iran and its proxies, the Pentagon said.

Tensions remain high in the region over the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran and a key commander of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.

Missile defence forces were placed on a state of increased readiness to deploy, the Pentagon said, adding that its commitment to defend Israel was “ironclad”.

Iran’s leader Ayatollah Khamenei has vowed “harsh punishment” against Israel for the assassination of Haniyeh.

        I’m all for the US shooting down offensive missiles. I do wish though we’d use it as a much stronger negotiation tool. Tell Netanyahu that if they’re the ones who start it, we won’t help at all.

    Looks like Netanyahu is getting what he wants. The US drags itself in another war in the Middle East. Harris will suffer for it in the elections, as she will be loosing the communities she won back after being alienated by Bidens zionist fanaticism. The US might end up doint the dirty work in Iran and Iraq, if things escalate fully. And Israel can finalize the genocide and annexation of all of Palestine, while pretending to be the victim again.

    The US will probably want another land base in the general area. Megiddo, for instance, might be a strategic location. Of course, the people living there would need extra defensive capabilities. But to get public support, the initiative will need a name… perhaps something like ‘Arm Megiddo’. /j

    On a more serious note, this could easily get very bad very quickly, and not just ‘over there’. We trust our governments to make decisions that keep us safe, but once they stop doing that they invite total destabilization from within. If the mainland gets attacked, all hell could break loose here…
