This seems like a pretty major bug. From my understanding, any code can run with full privileges when running on this CPU.
Some interesting discussion points at the end of the article about how RISC-V as an ISA could make it more difficult to mitigate such flaws.
It’s an incredibly bad bug and I can’t believe it was shipped this way.
