Not to victim blame, but if you buy TP link you don’t really know what network security is.
There is definitely some truth to this, although many more expensive devices aren’t all that much better when it comes stl security updates.
I have a Qualcomm-based high end router from ASUS, the thing get update about once a year. This is in contrast to their regular routers that get fixes once every 3-6 months (relatives have a Asuswrt-Merlin device).
