Explanation: The Brothers Gracchi were two democratically-elected reformers in the Late Republic era of Rome. They were both major proponents of land reform, and as such, despite some anachronism inherent to political comparisons over such a vast period of time, were reasonably popular references amongst 19th century socialist thinkers, because everyone in the 19th century were fucking Romaboos.
