    Explanation: The Brothers Gracchi were two democratically-elected reformers in the Late Republic era of Rome. They were both major proponents of land reform, and as such, despite some anachronism inherent to political comparisons over such a vast period of time, were reasonably popular references amongst 19th century socialist thinkers, because everyone in the 19th century were fucking Romaboos. They were both unlawfully killed by the ultrawealthy conservative Senatorial elite, so most of their reforms did not have the opportunity to become rooted in Roman government.

    The image, thus, is based off of the famous photograph of the Red Army raising the flag over the shattered remains of Berlin in WW2. GERMANIA DELENDA EST! OMNIA SVNT COMMVNIA!
