Rumors say the next Xbox will be a handheld. As while MS executives say it will be their most powerful system yet. Which is it? This video speculates on what this all could mean

Xbox is already doing it with Series S and Series X. If for their next generation they make the “Series S” handheld, this would achieve their goal.

But I’ll be disappointed if they do that. It seems pretty obvious that Series S is holding back the first party games. Avowed is another 30 FPS game from a first party studio, and that is when Xbox claims to be the most powerful console. And, if they go for handheld, the power gap might be even wider, so either they will have to make it so that not every game will run on the handheld, or hold back their home console.

I had typed so much but then erased it. I agree. I don’t think it’s a good idea or safe for a company that’s been lagging this far behind. They need to make a good console and push 1st party games with 6mo to a year exclusivity. “If you build it, they will come.”

Probably both. The Series S was a smash hit. If they can make one flagship like a Series X, they can replace the Series S with a handheld at the same price point. Or make another S and X and a Handheld.

The whole Xbox library on a handheld would be pretty good.

But they’re definitely going to make a big box to replace the Series X. They have to. To keep up with Playstation.

I’m not a fan of handhelds myself. But the success of the Switch cannot be denied.
