Seems like it is rare, but not impossible. The kind of weather the elders would be able to contextualize.

Now I’m curious about older references. Is there a subdiscipline within history that is concerned with the weather?Climate history is a thing, though I don’t know that it’s its own subdiscipline. But there’s a lot of work written on things like the Little Ice Age or the Medieval Warm Period, history of tornado sightings, etc.
