That was a pretty big leap from “Telegram founder’s arrest” to “if it’s a crime to build privacy tools….”
Telegram is not only not a privacy tool, by default it is not private.
Privacy likely has nothing to do with the arrest. More likely something he was doing that he thought was private did.

I thought his crime was not handing over data that he had specifically because the privacy on telegram is questionable at best? If just making a privacy focused app we’re a crime we would see this more often. The trick is to make it so that you actually have nothing to hand over when authorities come knocking.
Everyone should be pissed off about this. But they just throw in the words “child pornography” and it’s ok. I am totally against abusing children. I am also against government surveillance.
