Maybe it’s my information bubble speaking, but I feel most people are now recognizing these funding shutdowns to be almost entirely due to Republican actions. With election day less than a week after the “due date” on this one, I think it would be political suicide for Republicans not to fund the government this time around. Though maybe that’s their plan? What happens if the election is held during a shutdown? Would that help their mounting plans to refuse certification of election results they won’t like? Not sure how it would have an impact, since those elections are locally-run. Less oversight maybe?

Regardless, if there’s a way to obstruct actual law and order, the repubes will find a way to make it happen. It’s not really a question of if, but when and how.

There is no longer morality among those fascist assholes.

After all, why should there be?

We elect our Representatives on the idea that they will represent us, but that’s just the cover of the book. Once they are in the game is no longer about attempting to convince people that they are the right person for the job, the game is to win.

And if there’s no referee and there’s no punishment for playing immorally, then eventually only the most immoral players will win.

Remember when Donald Trump caused the longest shut down the Goverment history and wound up signing the same bill he rejected to avoid the shut down? Also don’t forget he bought McDonalds for Clemson when they visited after winning the National Championship because the cooks on the White House couldn’t get paid.

    Take that Democrats

If you prevent the election I guess Joe will have to stay. He can just step down and Kamala takes over without a vote. Why would the Republicans try to stop the election when the Dems are in the White house?

I thought that if for what ever reason the election doesn’t elect a president and VP that third in line takes over the presidency. That is the speaker of the house. AKA the guy trying to stop the election.

Fuck that guy then, sounds like Biden needs to make a official act and put a stop to this.

I saw a video recently where the guy was talking about how the us navy is failing at maintenance. He explained that a lot of it was turnover. A lot of skilled labor was leaving. It took me a minute to remember, but I actually used to be employed as a contractor working on the software that did just that. I didn’t make weapons, or anything that would be exported. Just software that organized ship maintenance. I wouldn’t go back regardless, but the reason I left isn’t the reason I wouldn’t go back. I don’t feel as comfortable with the military as I did a almost a decade ago when I was hired.

But why did I leave? Years of uncertainty from shut downs and funny budget fluctuations. All the comments on the video said to pay more, but I turned down a raise to get stability when I left. Myself and several people left around that same time. I assume for the same reason. They like pretending that they have broken nothing when the money comes back online. They’ve broken a lot of things including the “military readiness” they pretend to care about.
