Yeah, sure. Basically a “potato potahto” thing.

His argument doesn’t fly because he didn’t indicate that his political commentary was just that and not real, so it could have been misconstrued as real, which is what the deepfake law is trying to prevent.

“Calif.” is one of the two traditional abbreviations for California.
Written abbreviations. I live here and NO ONE calls it “Calif.”.

Abbreviations are usually read the same way the word they’re replacing are spoken. So, you’re right! Nobody’s saying “Calif.”

l’m going to start. Anytime someone says “I’m taking the 70 to the 25” in Denver I’ll ask them if they are from “Calif”

But they do follow the phonotactics of the speaker’s language – the rules of which are ultimately arbitrary.
