Who is he talking to when he says, “People never gave a shit about us until now, when they finally realized that the chain is being broke now,”

People know who longshoremen are. They deserve fair wage and benefits as much as anyone else.

I mean I didn’t give much more thought about longshoreman than I did about a poleman, or a miner, or the farmer growing my food. I don’t expect them to give a shit about me either.

So I support them, yes. In the sense that I’m not going to whine about the impact of their strike on my own life. I’m certainly not going to support the industry that is not bargaining with them in good faith.

But why is there animosity towards anyone other than the companies they are bargaining with?

So I am guessing that they cherry picked that quote just for the reason that out of context it makes him sound kinda bitchy?

Guy does need someone to help him with talking points though. They have a lot going for their side, they don’t need to fuck it up with bad press.

Most of Americans just care if the item they want is on the shelf and on sale. They never think of the supply chain or even their part in it. Even now you have people supporting the foreign owners of the ports, saying the union has enough already. Just complete ignorance at the same time they are feeling the same pressures from their bosses.

About damn time organized labor started pushing back hard on the insane levels of spin generated by our media orgs. I so deeply wish more unions would follow their lead. Also, as a software engineer, I so deeply wish I had a proper national or regional union to join.

The largest problem with those propaganda “news” organizations is they choose what to talk about, so this “pushback” won’t be heard by anyone who needs to hear it…

We’re all in our chosen echo chambers and live completely different “realities.”

      :(

Well in terms of root cause, they do that because their primary corporate motive is profitability, full stop. That’s it. That’s the only consistent goal.

Wow, the labor sec doesn’t mince words, doesn’t walk no tight rope. Impressive.
