    What the heck, Wordle? That’s evil! This took me to 6/6 for the first time since puzzle #1140. I checked, and this solution was destined to appear someday since the pre-NYT days, but seriously! Non-native English speakers have no chance against the grammatical acrobatics this word requires.

      Fun fact: Before I convinced Scoredle’s developer to change its bot’s starting word to SLATE, it was using TARES and it solved this puzzle in 2/6.

        I’ll keep TARES in mind as my next starter word if ARISE is ever picked as an answer. I was using RAISE for a while until that was picked.

          TARES isn’t that great. Scoredle’s bot assumes every playable word is a possible solution, so it tries starting words ending in S. I’d use STARE instead, or better yet, PARSE or SIREN. They’re potential puzzle solutions that haven’t been used yet.

      The worst part is that you played near-optimally and still lost. You wisely tested the double-letter case, and it ended up being the wrong letter. You eliminated a lot of good letters before you got trapped, and even that wasn’t enough. This particular trap exploits weaknesses in most of our playstyles, and I don’t have a consistent way to beat this.
