Hermits Peak-Calf Canyon Fire victims sued the agency because it will compensate them only for losses that come with a price tag. Victims say the law allows them to be paid for the stress of fleeing the blaze and the toll of losing their possessions.

    That judge had better god damned side with the victims. So tired of the USA ignoring the emotional needs of its citizens to the point we have a large number of them unhinged and violent because they’re so toothlessly undereducated and propagandized.

      The E in FEMA stands for Emergency. Not Emotional.

      The government does need to provide more access and funding for mental health, but you don’t get paid for being sad.

      Sue the fossil fuel companies for your loss.

        If you don’t think mental health of your society matters in terms of emergency, I don’t know what to tell you.

        We saw what failure of mental health access leads to in an emergency during COVID, and more recently with hurricane Helene.
