Barbie was so an adult level film. How that script survived and was released is the story I want to hear because it is both honest about what it is and it was a genius method of marketing to the Alphas generation.
I get the feeling that Hasbro knew what Barbie could mean in discourse and decided to perform well enough in that space rather than let the Internet do it for them.
You don’t pick a filmmaker like Gerwig and expect a movie that doesn’t touch on being a woman growing up.
Hasbro
Mattel is the company you mean.
Although Hasbro also makes a shit ton of toys!
What a world where a biopic of father of atomic bomb has more.comments about “great Boobs” and the one about a child’s doll and pink fun has sparked more deep political.diacourae and division
I’m sorry but I’m not reading an article that calls Barbie edgy
I look at it like this. The Ghostbusters movie wasn’t meant for kids, but kids liked it. Hell, kids liked RoboCop even when they really shouldn’t have.
Barbie seems like it it’s introducing kids to the kinds of ideas that movies of this age did. It isn’t a sharp edge, but it is an edge.
I still think it’s weird that they made Ken say the n word, I know it technically isn’t R material and that it fits his character, but it still felt a little off and wrong
Edit: wow lots of KKKen supporters here I guess
Lol someone went through my profile and down voted every comment I’ve ever made, I have no idea why this joke has generated so much salt, are there actually rumors of Ken being racist or something?
Go back to reddit with that shit.
Interesting, I don’t remember that at all. Did you just make it up?
Welcome to the internet
Lmao I thought it was obvious that I was joking, I just thought it was funny that they called the Barbie movie “edgy”

Not trollin, just making a joke. The fact that people think I was trying to trick people into thinking Ken said the n word is kind of insane lol, I figured that was absurd enough that it didn’t need the “/s”
