Most actors have a spit bucket they use when filming scenes. They don’t actually swallow all the food they are filmed “eating”.
Correct.
I often watch eating scenes closely–and the other trick is actors will often just poke at and push the food around. One of my pet peeves is take-out coffee cups that are always obviously empty when they carry them around or “drink” from them.
