Chuck would have been 60 in 1869 when Princeton and Rutgers played the first American Football game, for him to both know what a punt was, and traveled back to the Galapagos Islands at such an advanced age to kick animals, while possible, is highly unlikely
I suspect the ever bastardly act of animal kicking predates Football by a good margin.
That said, there is no evidence that Darwin was an avid animal kicker, though he did have a passion for hunting.
