Women have been within their rights to defend themselves from attack for a very long time, and the legal and penal system pretty clearly reflects that fact.

It’s not the right to defend that is the problem here. It’s the attacks.

Sadly with the shitshow that is the american people these days, this is by design. They want people to feel like there is no reason to protest anything, and whatever is happening to them is their own fault or responsibility

He has described himself as the “straightest guy” and attempted to defend himself as an incel by claiming that “the only really straight heterosexual position is to be an asexual incel”, as “having sex with women is gay … What’s gayer than being like, ‘I need cuddles. I need kisses … I need to spend time with a woman.’”

Well yeah, if you want to be truly masculine you need to fuck men. It’s mathematically proven to be twice as manly as straight sex.

During the AFPAC speech in which he praised Hitler, Fuentes said that the media had been comparing Vladimir Putin to Hitler “as if that wasn’t a good thing”.[96][53] Fuentes also asked the audience, “Can we get a round of applause for Russia?” which was followed by roaring applause and chants of “Putin! Putin!”[50]

Now’s the time to get armed and train. If you simply cannot get a gun for any reason, get pepper spray, carry around powdered glass the throw in someone’s eyes and train. Always train.

      I’m confused

      Who are “you guys”?

And what does “did gun control laws?” mean exactly?

The thought that nobody on here wants to own firearms or stock up for defense of the people they care about (especially in countries who have recently slid further down the fascism slide) is laughable.

This feels like a “so much for the tolerant left” post.

Lmao “tolerant left” is how we got here.

        Who are “you guys”?

The liberal left opposing Trump and the alt-right. Thought that was implied by the meme, but I guess not.

And please, just about the only thing I’ve seen on Lemmy until this week has been the same tired regurgitated gun control talk by the Democrats.

How do driving licenses and driving license tests help? I believe a gun license and gun license test would help in the same way.

Alright. I don’t know enough about American gun laws, so I’m going to leave it at that I think.

In the majority of US states, you don’t need to show any ID to buy a gun at a gun show, flea market, etc.

There’s this strange conservative delusion the gun control means no guns. Not allowing fully automatic weapons of war in the hands of citizens is reasonable. Not just letting any random person with a history of violence is reasonable gun control. Making sellers go through the effort to enforce the rules in place instead of subverting it for a sale or their personal beliefs is reasonable.

I’m pretty liberal and I think you should have a right to have a handgun and rifle if you are a competent adult, with the same regulations we use regarding cars. Personally, it’s probably wise for women and lgbtq+ to open carry in morr conservative areas for a while.

But the thing is full autos have been banned since 1986 (38yr ago), “prebans” were all manufactured before then and even those are subject to the NFA (you can only have"postbans" with an SOT, which basically means “gun manufacturer or federally licensed salesman”), so no currently “to be added” gun control regulates full auto since it is already tantamount to illegal. They are trying to ban semi autos that happen to look like they maybe could be full autos but don’t function the same, which is what people take umbrage with. (Semi auto being “how you normally think guns function” probably, one bullet per pull of trigger, auto being “pull trigger, gun go bang until not pull trigger”). Also btw “weapons of war” all pretty much do the “full auto” thing, (thus the difference between ar15 and m16/m4,) all those “weapons of war” as you say are actually those aforementioned pre- or post-ban machine guns that civilians basically can’t get already (unless they were manufactured before 86 and their form 4(iirc) gets approved by the ATF, or they have their FFL and SOT.)

Furthermore anyone with felony convictions (basically all violent crime), or even misdemeanor DV convictions (aside from VT of all places, for some fucking reason) are already federally barred from firearms ownership.

Furtherfurtherrmore “stores” (FFL dealers, as they’re known) are legally required to run an FBI background check (NICs, ATF Form 4473) on ALL gun sales they do. Private sellers don’t, but they’ve been asking for access to NICs for YEARS and the state won’t give it to them, and there are more restrictions on private sellers (mostly, the ATF comes knocking with “sufficient quantity…” which they can make up on a whim, “within a year.”)

I may or may not work in the industry, there’s a lot more that goes into it than you’d think.
