Reminds me of old Pioneer Kuro plasma TVs. With some models, you could solder one tiny capacitor to the mainboard, and it would unlock “Elite” model features.

BMW for minor driving assistance and recording (like cockpit recording). In Tesla is autopilot, major driving assistance, blind spot showing and accident prevention.
