Have you two been able to find firearms training? There are a number of inclusive firearms instructors you can get training from. I also recommend a stop the bleed class for new gun owners(or for anyone really).

Also, regarding inclusive training, I’ll plug The Liberal Gun Club . They have chapters around the country and are a lovely alternative to your typical NRA-card-carrying firearms instructor.
“political violence is never acceptable” their site says, and that’s certainly a stance. I guess just get in the oven or whatever.
Political violence should not be the first choice, but “never use force” feels naive.
If they didn’t say that the media would brand them terrorist & the feds would probably target them also.
