Seems like you’d be better off with chickens rather than pigs and cows.
Unless you plan to keep the pigs and cows until you reach some destination.
A constant source of eggs seems better if you are traveling a long distance.
I imagine they were killed off pretty quickly. The HMS Victory had a crew of some 800 men - if you assume 10% of them were officers, that’s enough to eat a pig down to the bones every day.
