Explanation: Exactly as the meme says - the Emperor Claudius was appointed Emperor by the acclamation of the Praetorian Guards who murdered his nephew, the insane Emperor Caligula. They found poor Claudius hiding behind some door curtains, thinking they were gonna murder him too - turned out, they wanted him to be Emperor. He turned out to be surprisingly a great Emperor, despite being tormented by his nephew Caligula for the previous half-decade and having to play dumb and meek to survive.

[off topic] Lindsay Davis is the author of the novel “The Silver Pigs” It’s the first book in a series about a Roman ‘public investigator’ named Falco. In one of the books he’s made up a Roman underworld slang, because there’s no actual record of Roman underworld slang.
