this is a gentle reminder to posters in this thread that the fediverse in general is nowhere near secure from an opsec perspective; don’t post anything that compromises yourself or us.

with that said, happy December 4th to those who celebrate. post commemorative cocktail recipes here.

e: remember, they call it the fediverse cause it’s full of feds

Don’t plan murders over the fediverse no

However celebrate that shit. We don’t answer to advertisers, we’re self and community funded.

This is one of the huge benefits of the fediverse.

Just made myself a lil spiked eggnog; just some cinnamon moonshine and oat milk eggnog in whatever ratios you prefer, topped with some freshly-grated cinnamon. I hadn’t really felt too festive this holiday season thus far, but that’s changed somewhat.

if you can’t find any in the shop, whipped cream is amazingly easy to make at home! just mix liquor, vanilla, cream and sugar and beat the shit out of it with a whisk or mixer

that sounds amazing! the cans of alcoholic whipped cream I’ve got are non-dairy (so technically whipped topping, also don’t refrigerate it or it’ll go terribly wrong) and vodka-based and now I really want to try making some bourbon whipped cream

I started thinking about when Emma Goldman’s partner Alexander Berkman tried to kill a 19th century robber baron who had sent in Pinkerton to murder workers into ending a strike.

One can make an argument about the economic conditions creating the condition’s for what the anarchists back then called “the propaganda of the deed”. But that isn’t where I am going. Instead let’s look at the aftermath.

From an assassination perspective, the quality of the assassination was lacking. Also, Wikipedia (my bold):

Frick was back at work within a week; Berkman was charged and found guilty of attempted murder. Berkman’s actions in planning the assassination clearly indicated a premeditated intent to kill, and he was sentenced to 22 years in prison.[5] Negative publicity from the attempted assassination resulted in the collapse of the strike.[19]

In other words, today’s robber barons gets less sympathy than the O.G. kind. That’s a bit interesting.

Berkman’s case had the perception of doing something violent to end a strike. UHC is pure retribution (for now). It hits differently.

The murder of the United Healthcare CEO was less of a miscarriage of justice than the justice system allowing them to do what they are doing in the US.

Also I think everyone here has noticed how much money, time, and effort went into catching this guy compared to, say, any other shooter in New York in 2024.
