Developer Shree Kulkarni’s current plan to build a new extended-stay hotel in Walnut Hills near the Interstate 71/Martin Luther King Jr. interchange is dead after the Cincinnati Planning Commission voted unanimously Friday, Dec. 6, to reject it.

The planning staff said the project did not align enough with Walnut Hills’ neighborhood plan because it was too auto-oriented, does not line up with the scale of the single-family homes near it and lacked community support.

I’d say good. There’s zero reason to be doing surface lots here. Either build a garage or rely on people ubering or something. That and all the folks want housing and not a hotel, which was torn down. And relying on the MLK interchange which the city (most notably Cranley above all else) “supported” doesn’t mean the people nearby wanted that either. They were gonna be steamrolled on that whether they liked it or not.

So build housing or sell the plots dude.
