Summary

A New York judge denied Donald Trump’s request to dismiss his conviction for falsifying business records, rejecting claims that the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on presidential immunity invalidates the case.

Trump’s lawyers argued that testimony from former White House staff contaminated the trial, but the judge found the evidence focused on Trump’s personal conduct.

While the conviction stands, Trump plans to appeal. If upheld, this would make Trump the first felon to serve as president.

Prosecutors offered to pause the case during Trump’s presidency but opposed fully overturning the conviction.

Call me cynical, but I somewhat expect this will make it to SCOTUS and be overturned, somehow. The present SCOTUS doesn’t care about legal precedent or even really the rule of law. They’re 6/9 a super PAC.

Big deal. Not like he’s gonna suffer any consequences for it.
