I fear sometimes that there will be thought crimes with how governments and companies have been continually shifting.

Is it even possible to be anonymous online anymore?

Do I expose myself to some future liability by reading, commenting, and sharing certain content and ideas today?

There’s no guarantee, and it gives me pause and a chilling effect.

See you gotta make sure you create enough noise to throw all that shit off. Google thinks I’m a 40 year old single mother, Amazon thinks I’m married in my 30s with four children, and Facebook, which actually has my demographics information, thinks I’m in my 20s but can’t figure out my age, gender, or family status.

I’m a single dad in my 30s. Idk what you gotta do to get it to profile you so wrong, but I recommend using whatever techniques I was doing to follow that. Noisy data is useless data.

Now the bots scraping Lemmy think you’re a single dad in your thirties. Genius!

      I’m a Romanian plumber, 35, btw.
