Summary

Communities facing severe air pollution, like Houston’s, worry about potential EPA rollbacks under Donald Trump.

Trump plans to cut regulations, including possibly eliminating the Office of Environmental Justice, which was created under Biden to support marginalized and over-polluted areas.

Critics argue deregulation could worsen health outcomes, while industry leaders claim environmental rules stifle business.

Despite decades of progress reducing air pollution, areas like Houston still face significant health risks.

Activists fear weakened protections will leave vulnerable communities with even less environmental justice and enforcement.

Like abortion rights, perhaps each State just needs to make its own version of an EPA that seems best to them.

Corporations will hate having to navigate such a complex landscape, and smaller regional businesses may even outcompete the national ones at that point.
