Explanation: The Emperor Aurelian put great effort into encouraging the worship of Sol Invictus (‘The Unconquerable Sun’) as a unifying, ‘non-cult’ god that the entire Roman Empire could rally behind in addition to each region’s traditional gods.

I would have preferred praising the sun rather than praising some poor socialist that was nailed to a cross that was part of some weird interconnected trinity where he gave birth to himself and wanted to allow himself to be killed and tortured by the same people he supposedly created.
It would have been a lot easier to just get people to just praise the sun … that big celestial object in the sky that rises and falls every day and no one can deny because its hanging over our heads every day!
