Explanation: The Spanish Civil War in the mid-1930s attracted volunteers from all over the world to rumble in a fight of democracy and socialism vs. militarism and fascism.

American volunteers came in (against the wishes of our government lmao) on both sides. Far more served Republican Spain, fighting for democracy, than Franco’s nationalist fascist cunts - about 3000 vs. a few dozen.
