Controversy has centred around the period of time detainees have been held without charge and the use of interrogation techniques.

    Understatement of the century.

According to an unconfirmed report by the New York Times, Mr Yazidi was never charged and was approved for transfer more than a decade ago.

The newspaper also said he had been at Guantanamo Bay since the facility was first set up in 2002.

Can you just imagine being like, 20, and some assholes nab you and basically steal your entire young adulthood from you for no fucking reason?

Yes, I know this happens in US prisons all the time but it still sickens me.

Except this is nothing like what happens to people in the US prison system. In the US you get to have a trial. You generally have options for visitors and communication with loved ones. You are also given a sentence, so you know how much time you have left.

This man had none of that. If he wasn’t a terrorist before he was taken, I would be shocked if he isn’t one now.

I’m sure they will tell their friends and family members how nice we were to them.
