I love the scene. Can’t help thinking it would have been better without the large obnoxious bouncy subtitles.
Is it that they are distracting or something? Would you prefer just “normal” subtitles, or are you saying this clip would be better with none at all?
Personally, I think it would work absolutely fine with no subtitles, as there’s a bit of intrigue as to what’s on the padd and it seems pretty clear what’s happening from Bashir’s body language. However, just a basic subtitle would be fine. I feel it’s just taking impact from the punchline, especially as the text of the punchline is very understated in comparison to the big bouncy setup text (a set up which isn’t strictly necessary, IMO).
