    I prefer JWST’s on the right simply because it has more background objects visible. IR just cuts right through the dust and gas.

    This was the first picture I ever saw that clued me in to the size of the universe. Next was the deep field. It was humbling.

      humbling is a great word. No matter how much we think we know, looking at something like this reminds me of how small we really are.

    Looking at the thumbnails. I never realized how much it looks like a hand with three fingers raised and the thumb crossed over the palm. Almost a Vulcan salute.

    It’s such a tiny portion of our sky. Not even visible with our naked eye. Yet, the image is so rich in stars. According to OP’s link, there’s no galaxies visible in the picture. All those shiny things are stars in our galaxy.
