Are we using this term the same way? To me Bernie Bro is like a loud, obnoxious, misogynistic Bernie supporter, not just any old supporter. I used to think they were a myth but then I met them.

Most later went on to be huge trumpers so their support for Bernie was a shallow expression of anger that merely hitched itself to any convenient movement. So they were dead wrong all along.

I always assumed “Bernie bros” were a way to dismiss Bernie supporters by the mainstream media… as if it’s just bros supporting Bernie because he was a male and Hillary was “her” and therefore true progressives were gonna vote “female.” It’s just made up divisive bs. Obviously, Bernie is and has always been more progressive than Hillary and his type of progressivism addresses the working class, in a way the mainstream Democratic Party does not

I think it can be both things, depending on who was using it. It spoke to a real and problematic phenomenon but was also weaponized by people opposed to progressive ideology. So, it’s a bit complicated.

NOOOOOO! Progressive means to elect a person of color, progressive means to elect a woman! Not progressive in policy!!!
