Dont like it. already a ton of changes to source material, and Im not liking what little they show of translating the unrealistic elements of the original to live action. Luffy stretches out his arm, then tucks it in for a normal uppercut. And since they had to transition the CG arm to a regular punch, the actor just cannot carry over the momentum of the CG arm so there’s an awkward pause. Plus some other gripes sprinkled in like painted on doors in Baratie and them already mocking anime tropes.

I’m sure it’s not going to be the worst anime adaptation, but it doesn’t feel right either. I’m very surprised about the general positive reaction from fans to it. For now I will watch at least a few episodes and see.

it’s pretty much what i expected, which is good. obviously anime live actions have almost always failed but seeing how dedicated the staff are, i’m pretty hyped to see this.

people are just too negative sometimes…

I like it. I think it’s inherently hard to adapt over the top goofy anime to live action and for a western audience, but if we can set aside the inherent cringe of that, it could turn out well

As I’ve seen some other people say before, we’ve managed to figure out how to adapt comic books and video games, so why not manga.

Ah man. Definitely did not know what to expect but it isn’t terrible. A lot of good stuff in it. I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for sharing!

Kinda hopeful optimistic for this. And East Blue saga (except for Arlong Park arc) should not have a lot of CGI
