Reddit has temporarily banned one of its communities - and removed another - after X owner Elon Musk claimed comments made by the site’s users about his employees were breaking the law.
The r/WhitePeopleTwitter subreddit, which typically invites people to share funny posts from X, has been banned for 72 hours after some users posted comments calling for violence against members of the Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (Doge).
They were responding to reports which suggested some Doge staff have been granted access to sensitive personal information of millions of Americans.
Musk - who frequently champions his commitment to free speech - shared a post on X containing the comments, and stated: “they have broken the law”.
The subreddit was banned soon afterwards.
Musk - who frequently champions his commitment to free speech
LOL
Feeling pretty good about not being on that trash website anymore.
Musk - who frequently champions his commitment to free speech - shared a post on X containing the comments, and stated: “they have broken the law”.
Yeah, he doesn’t give a rats ass about the law. Or, more specifically, he only cares about the laws that protect him, but he doesn’t give a rats ass about the laws that are meant to protect others, often from people like him.
Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.
Also from that post.
There is no such thing as liberalism — or progressivism, etc.
There is only conservatism. No other political philosophy actually exists; by the political analogue of Gresham’s Law, conservatism has driven every other idea out of circulation.
There might be, and should be, anti-conservatism; but it does not yet exist.
I’m not sure if this is your construction, but it’s delightfully (and frightfully) succint.
Defintely not, been around since 2018.
Thank you for enriching me.
Thank you for being enrichable.
Protect, but not bind, bind, but not protect.
“They have broken the law when they aren’t even rich!”
fElon Musk.
Spez is a cuck
Just lets Musk fuck Reddit right in front of him
The complete thought policing of the internet is starting. All free speech absolutists are coming for free thought.
Reddit is slobbering all over the ring at this point
At this point you can shove an axle into Aaron Schwartz’s grave and use his rotation to fully power the Earth in perpetuity. Again.

We need anyone who is still on Reddit or has an old account to get over there and let folks know that there is a great community here and we would welcome them!
I seem to recall plenty of Luigi posts being removed/locked here
Different servers have different rules and federation lets them enforce it in a fully distributed and discrete way.
This is how the internet should work. Think of each host as a BBS forum, each one has its own rules. Don’t like it? Go to the other.
The nice thing about the Fediverse, is that you’re not locked in to one server/set of rules.
That’s why we should be conscientious about directing communities to an appropriate instance. If they want to post about political violence, there’s a place for that.
If they are LGBT, particularly trans, then blahaj is particularly well suited for example.
Just because I happen to be on .world doesn’t mean I necessarily think it’s the best place for every community. I would have to be pretty stupid to come to the Fediverse and oppose Federation.
There is no “here” here. They’re being removed on some websites, and not on others.
That’s exactly right. Different instances will be more sensitive to different issues, but hopefully that means there’s a place for everything.
There are instances where posting guillotines will be removed and there are instances where that’s permitted but pictures of Winnie the Pooh might be removed.
If people want to talk about anti-authoritarian violence, there is lemmygrad, etc.
I’m more concerned with the fact that a lot of reddit LGBT and particularly trans communities were banned. That could never happen on blahaj.
I meant a certain instance on lemmy
r/enoughmuskspam still alive and well.
Narcissistic nepo babies love nothing more than hearing their own name.
Like laws still matter.
Do they though?
Most of us are still operating under the assumption that rules still matter, even tho there is proof they don’t.
It’s hard to turn one’s back on social order when chaos is screaming in our faces.
You can not accept reality all you want, but it’s still reality.
True. It’s gonna take a minute for us to see it tho.

Saw a thread locked in subreddit drama, but that has basically been it. Honestly, out of all the bullshit reddit has done, this is not it. The people were very clearly doxxing and fodder at that. I almost suspect this was planted, the people targeted were meaningless pawns who could have easily been replaced by any one of Musk’s sycophants. If people want to throw punches, aim for the king.
Who fucking cares. Quit defending traitors they deserve everything that comes to them. Don’t want to get doxxed? Then stop committing high treason.
Who’s defending them? Or are you just disingenuously gaslighting me? They are worthless fodder in an environment full of far better targets. Who do you think those jails in El Salvador are being prepared for? But if you want to get caught in the easiest to detect trap a dictator has ever set, you do you.
A traitor is a traitor, whether they’re big or small fish. A concept that seems difficult for you to understand.
Imagine thinking a fly has the same value as the king and sacrificing anything you could have added to the fight because of it. You are a clown.
Did you have a stroke? That makes no sense. Nice try, tho. Keep treating traitors with kid gloves.
Got it, you are a shill trying to get people entrapped.
Not everything is a conspiracy chump.
