Hey, I’m one of the mods on /r/Grimdank (for now, at least…).

Just FYI, our plan is to leave the poll up for 24 hours, and that deadline is approaching quickly.

Hi, big fan of r/Grimdank here. In another post you guys recognize that you split the vote for “close”…which is a start. But you also talk about the next steps, what would they look like?

Because I am on Lemmy for almost two weeks and I found [email protected] just fucking now! And trust me, I tried looking (with my limited mental capabilities). So I think an exodus will split the community. Especially considering that a lot of the users just don’t give a fuck about anything as long as they have their memes. So how do you think your protest will continue and is there anything the fans can help you with?

Yeah, the split-vote was a mistake. r/Grimdank is currently open but we’ll do another poll soon and may re-close.

For exactly the reasons you mentioned, I don’t think a mass-migration is practical.

TBH I’m on the brink of just deleting my Reddit account and moving on.

Was a frequent participant in r/grimdank.
I can’t imagine the feeling of pouring your heart and soul into a community only to have them turn around and call you a “janitor” at the first hint of inconvenience to them.
My contributions to reddit were always more surface level (though much higher in volume) and I can’t help but look at what everyone is saying and cringe.
I think everyone involved would be better if we just left them to their old habits and moved on.
They’ll probably be fine, they can bear it. We go on to do better things.
