Summary

An unvaccinated adult in New Mexico has died after contracting measles, though the virus has not been confirmed as the cause of death.

The person, from Lea County, was the 10th confirmed case in the area, which is near a Texas outbreak that has infected 159 people and killed a child.

The CDC has deployed a team to Texas to contain the spread.

Health officials continue to stress that the MMR vaccine is highly effective, as concerns grow over vaccine skepticism under new HHS leadership.

Spring break is starting, so this will spread through other college campuses. It’ll have a couple months to spread around there, then everyone will bring it home for the summer. Fun times!
