Not really helpful to the majority of the world. Focuses on Europe and California and even then it didn’t seem to work.
The rest of the world lacks any kind of protection due to lacking laws. But yes, big companies are reluctant to comply unless you specifally inform them that you will contact Data Protection Authority if they don’t comply.
You can just lie and say you live in the EU or California. You don’t actually have to live there.
Wouldn’t be that hard to lie and say you live in CA or the EU. They don’t have a good way to verify otherwise as you accessing the site from elsewhere doesn’t mean you don’t live in CA or the EU.
Already requested my data last week (GDPR). Still haven’t received anything though. Pretty sure they have a timeframe to provide the data and they can face legal penalties if they don’t do it in time.
