North Korea has said US soldier Travis King crossed into its territory last month because of “inhuman maltreatment and racial discrimination” in the army.

    This is sketch af but par for the course with DPRK. I do not doubt for a second that there is racial discrimination in the army, but the dude could have fled to…South Korea? I guess I just find the excuse that risking the DMZ and settling in NK was the next best option. I do hope he is okay though, and I hope his story ends in a manner that’s not the worst case scenario or close to it.

    North Korea seems an odd place to escape to, especially after this poor schmo delivered “a profanity-laced tirade against Koreans.” But what the heck, I’m not offended by his defection, treason, wanderlust, whatever you call it.

    I sincerely wish him a happy life in his new home.

      He didn’t actually say any of these things. A notoriously dishonest conservative dictator did. It is very unlikely that any of it is true.
