Would be nice to connect with fellow EMDR therapists on Lemmy. I was trained in 2021 and am close to being certified. Love talking about EMDR and parts work!

I can also invite you to a free online learning community where a bunch of us connect for advice, networking, talks, and book clubs.

This is the second time I’ve heard about this in a week. I’d be interested in more info!

Nope, but I start EMDR soon at the advice of my autism therapist and the trauma therapist I was referred to. Apparently, I have A LOT of trauma to overcome which would make prolonged exposure too lengthy and difficult since I also throw up whenever I talk about it. CPT was also deemed not the best option because I🌈AM🌈AUTISM and have difficulties in identifying emotions and social situations like allistics.

I’m excited to move past all this bs that’s holding me back, so thank y’all for what you do! I imagine that working with trauma is incredibly difficult since you have to hear actual horror stories from people and see the impact it has on them. On the other hand, you get to see them overcome it and embrace life again. Hopefully, you guys make sure to take care of yourselves as well, and keep the toxic people that like to prey on helpers far away from you. ❤️

I’m so excited for you to start EMDR! I really hope it helps, it’s such a great modality, and I’ve seen it do amazing things. Thank you for appreciating what we do - it is difficult work, but it’s very rewarding. And yes, I have to take great care not to get overwhelmed and get secondary PTSD or burnout. But again, it’s all worth it in the end when I see someone free of emotional pain. Best of luck to you in your journey!
