    Maybe it’s just too early in the morning for my brain, but I’ve read this sentence at least 10 times and I’m still not certain what happened to who.

    Vlad spent several years as a prisoner of the Ottoman Empire, along with his younger brother Radu, and his father and older brother, Mircea, were murdered in 1447.

    I think it means to read something like…

    Vlad, along with his younger brother Radu, spent several years as a prisoner of the Ottoman Empire. In 1447, his father and older brother, Mircea, were murdered.
