Weekend Recap: Grave Digger Sweeps in Calgary and Tampa
www.monsterjam.comGrave Digger fans were thrilled with the results of the Monster Jam appearances in Calgary and Tampa this past weekend. Tampa fans sold out two Saturday shows at Amalie Arena and Calgary’s faithful was loud and proud at the GMC Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.
Calgary, AB: Tyler Menninga (Grave Digger) captured both event championships in Calgary, keeping his streak alive that started in late July. Since July 29, Menninga has won 12 straight event championships. This weekend, he was nearly perfect on Sunday afternoon, winning all but Freestyle. That honor went to Armando Castro (El Toro Loco), who finished second to Grave Digger on both occasions. Menninga took the Saturday night win with victories in Racing and Freestyle. Castro claimed the Skills competition as Monster Jam rookie Loghan Ashline (Scooby-Doo!) recorded her second Donut championship in her 15 career events.
Tampa, FL: Weston Anderson (Grave Digger) stayed perfect in Florida, backing up last weekend’s trio of event championship in Sunrise with two more in Tampa. Anderson was victorious in Skills and Freestyle, but could not break through in the timed Racing competition. Tony Ochs (ThunderROARus) blistered the track to take both racing competitions on the weekend. For Ochs, it was a welcome return to the site where he won his first event championship of his career five years earlier.
