I found myself on the other side of the border this weekend and thought fuck it while I’m here I’ll pick up some cava yo take advantage. Turns out in tesco at least the recent bump in inflation has nullified the min pricing and there was no difference.

Aye, it is just the white lightning and multipack supermarket lager that was actually affected anyway. So really just a poor tax. Alcoholism I put down to social issues, not pricing. And we’ve tried it, and it hasn’t changed much. To actually solve alcohol deaths requires solving deep rooted multiple deprivation issues. I’d raise the minimum wage to start, make work actually worth it’s while, encourage more automation, increase the tax take. This will actually help reduce people who fall into sitting in the park with a few tinnies at midday
