I wrote an essay on this for a car design degree more than 20 years ago. Microplastics wasn’t a term then, but we knew the tyres were wearing out. The debris had to be going somewhere.
6 Mj of electrical energy, 45 litres of water and 35 litres oil are required to make a single average sized car tyre.
While complaining without offering solutions is just whining, I was not able to offer a reasonable alternative then, and I don’t have one now.
Anyone else have a viable idea?
