In a news article I read the hostility has been understood as the US officially engaging in a war. So, treason doesn’t apply actually. At the same time, the current Russia-US relation can be as hostile as possible due to nukes.

If he continues the way he’s going, that’s not going to last all that much longer. One does not retain their financial security by crumbling every project you touch into dogshit. Tesla and Twitter are both on the fast slide into the gutter.

He is being propped up by Saudi investors, which are aligned with Russians on more fronts than one.

Don’t think for a second that his wealth is connected to the success of his businesses, never was. It’s always been connected to his investors. His investors own him. His investors are the Saudis.

Musk is America’s new 9/11, just, in slow and prolonged motion. Same money, same people behind it.

It’s not a secret that SpaceX and Tesla have “disaster” teams that follow and try to patch up his worse tendencies, and SpaceX has been led more by Shotwell for several years now. He really is just the PR guy for SpaceX these days, and I’m sure the Pentagon has made it clear that needs to continue given his actions over the last year.

So does this mean that Elon thinks Starlink is responsible for whatever its internet access is used for? If Starlink can manipulate their service to inhibit war time activities, why wouldn’t they be responsible for not shutting off access to people or groups facilitating crimes, such as distributing CSAM or drugs? Seems like Elon is admitting that Starlink does have the capability.

This story is getting a lot of play, seems like someone in the defense industry is pushing it hard.

Giving Starlink away for free as a humanitarian effort for the people of Ukraine makes a lot of sense, it’s the right thing to do and good PR for Space X.

Using Starlink for military operations also makes a lot of sense, if you need it, they are building out “Starshield” services for just that purpose but it’s not what the current network was designed for and it’s hard to get the appropriate licenses in a war zone.

As for asking for someone to pay for the service: nobody is giving away military hardware for free, it’s all on lend-lease agreements that Ukraine will eventually have to repay over time (the UK only recently finished paying their WWII bills to the US on similar agreements).
